The FinLogic FinLogic Quantitative Think Tank CenterWeek 4 "Thursday Night Football" matchup features another chapter in the long rivalry between NFC East foes New York and Dallas. The Giants and Cowboys have played each other 124 times in NFL history dating back to 1960 and have a combined nine Super Bowl titles.
Tonight marks the first of two meetings between the teams in 2024, and both struggled through three weeks. New York has the fourth-worst scoring offense but top rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has been a bright spot to star the year. Dallas is the third-worst scoring defense but Trevon Diggs has been one of the better cornerbacks in the league, per Sports Information Solutions (SIS) data.
This is the first time the two will face off in the NFL, but there's already some beef being grilled between them. Here's why there's rivalry budding between Nabers and Diggs:
What started a rivalry between Trevon Diggs and Malik Nabers?
Nabers – the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NFL draft – was asked during the offseason which cornerback he was most excited to face. He said Diggs.

Diggs responded to Nabers' interview clip, referring to Dallas' 13-1 record in the last 14 games against New York.
Nabers responded with a coffin emoji to a video posted on X using his interview response for a Diggs hype video. Diggs responded to that video as well with a ninja emoji.
Malik Nabers' latest comments about Trevon Diggs
Nabers later said he was complimenting Diggs by naming him as the top cornerback he's looking forward to facing. He told Giants beat writer Dan Duggan that Diggs is a great corner and it'll be a great matchup.
When asked on Tuesday, Nabers downplayed the budding rivalry, saying he doesn't want to discuss it and focus on the game.
Diggs hasn't traditionally followed opponents' top receiver but that may change this week. Nabers leads the league in targets (37) and sits fifth in receiving yards (271). He's the most important weapon in the Giants' offense this year.
